Palma Ceia Methodist Day School is seeking reliable and flexible Substitute Teachers to support our early childhood education classrooms on an as-needed basis. The Substitute Teachers will create a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment while following lesson plans and routines established by the regular classroom teacher.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise and engage with children ages infant to 5 years old, ensuring their safety and well-being.
Implement lesson plans and classroom activities as directed by the lead teacher or center director.
Maintain classroom order and a positive learning environment through redirection and positive reinforcement.
Assist with daily routines, including meals, rest time, diapering, and bathroom breaks as needed.
Communicate effectively with children, staff, and parents while maintaining a professional and friendly demeanor.
Follow all state licensing regulations and PCMDS policies to ensure a safe and compliant classroom environment.
Clean and organize classroom spaces to maintain a sanitary and welcoming learning environment.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required; coursework in Early Childhood Education preferred.
Completion of DCF 45-hour training (or willingness to complete).
Previous experience in a childcare setting preferred.
Ability to adapt quickly to different classroom settings and follow instructions.
Strong communication and classroom management skills.
Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs and be active throughout the day.
Schedule & Compensation:
On-call, as needed based on center staffing needs.
Must have flexibility to work during center hours (7:00 AM – 5:30 PM).
Competitive hourly rate based on experience and qualifications.
