Sheila Rios has been an educator for 23 years, spending most of her career in higher education. In her current role as Associate in Science Dean at Hillsborough Community College’s Ybor City campus, Ms. Rios oversees a variety of workforce programs; including Early Childhood Education and a Child Development Center. Sheila has spent most of her adult life in the United States. She was born in Santurce, Puerto Rico and lived in New York for 17 years before moving to Florida. Ms. Rios holds a Bachelor’s in Sociology and Master’s Degree in Management and Policy from Stony Brook University and is currently in the dissertation phase of her doctorate study in Higher Education Administration at Florida Southern College in Lakeland, Florida.
In her “free” time, Ms. Rios loves to spend time with her 19 year old daughter, an HCC student, outdoors exploring small towns in Florida and enjoying the beautiful weather Florida living provides. She also enjoys laid back evenings hanging out by the fire pit making s’mores with family and friends, reading, dancing, and binge watching Netflix series.
