Quality early learning options are a high priority in Hillsborough County because our children are counting on us to make sure they have every advantage and opportunity available for success in school and in life.
We know that children are actively learning wherever they are – at home, in child care, preschool, after-school – and we recognize that parents are children’s first and most important teachers. We work hard to build and maintain a continuum of quality early learning programs and services that respects and takes into account families’ individual needs.
The ELCHC has implemented a plan that includes a comprehensive program of school readiness services that is designed to enhance the cognitive, social, and physical development of children to achieve the performance standards and outcome measures specified by the Office of Early Learning. 66% of all of Hillsborough's children spend most of their day in care situation outside of the home.
