VPK Recipe for Success - Session 2: Feathers for Lunch
Date & Time: 03-10-2010 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Location
The Early Learning Coalition of Hillsborough County 1002 E. Palm Avenue, Suite 100 ELC Conference Room Tampa, FL 33605

Description

The Early Learning Coalition of Hillsborough County is pleased to announce the continuation of VPK’s  Recipe for Success, a face-to-face training program that connects cooking experiences for children in VPK classrooms to Florida’s Education Standards.

Recipe for Success combines three critically acclaimed children’s books with three hands-on cooking activities.  The training series includes three (3) separate, 2-hour training sessions (one for each book) and is conducted by Coalition staff.  The first training session was held in September and October 2009; the second training session has been scheduled for February and March 2010; and the final training session will be offered in the spring 2010 (dates To  Be Announced).

Every VPK provider will have the opportunity to select one (1) VPK instructor to attend the training.  The selected instructor must either be the lead VPK instructor; or a secondary VPK instructor; or the director (if the director is a VPK instructor).  It is the expectation that the selected instructor would then train any additional VPK staff at your center and share the materials that will be distributed at each training session.

The cost for the Recipe for Success Training series is $15.00 per person, per session.  Participants will receive the following materials at each training session:

·        a quality children’s book

·        a DVD, which features actual VPK classroom instruction of the lesson content

·        a training manual with lesson plans

·        a classroom supply that corresponds to the lesson
