First Steps for Infants & Toddlers

Description

This course has been designed for teachers of infants and toddlers.  Participants will learn about the latest brain research, the stages of social emotional development, personal care routines, curriculum and lesson planning, and the indoor and outdoor learning environment.

Additional Description
This training series is 15Hours or 1.5 CEU´s. The traning series begins on Sept. 6, 2008; the other dates in this series are: Sept. 13, 20, 2008. Trainings are from 8 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on all dates.

VPK Program Standards Training

Description

VPK instructors are introduced to VPK Program Standards which are guidelines that describe what children should and be able to do at the end of their VPK participation in the following areas: physical health, approaches to learning, social & emotional development, language and communication, emergent literacy, cognitive development and motor development. The trainings provide examples of developmentally appropriate instructional techniques for four-year-old children, ways to enhance the learning environment, and information to assist teachers in continuing their investigation of a topic of interest.

Leading the Way to Quality is a one-day training designed for directors that looks at the nature of change in early childhood programs and the director's role as change agent.  Participants will learn to use the Program Administration Scale (PAS) as a guide to collect data about their centers and how that information can be turned into an action plan for center improvement.

Must submit a PAS Training Registration form (by 8/15/08). Fee: $20.00 (Inc. materials & lunch). Check-in 8:00 a.m. - 8:30 a.m.
