elchc_block_only8786fileupload.gifThe Early Learning Coalition of Hillsborough County (ELCHC) is an organization that specializes in the funding and delivery of quality early childhood care and education and after-school programs and services to the children and families of Hillsborough County.

Through our many collaborative partnerships, the ELCHC strives to identify resources and opportunities that maximize our ability to deliver the highest quality services. The ELCHC also strives to be a well-rounded community resource. Our partnerships allow us to provide such services.

  • Information on Child Care Resource and Referral –offering information to all parents about the availability of child care and early learning opportunities in their local areas.
  • Information on understanding and selecting quality early learning programs for parents.
  • Professional development and quality supports for early childhood and school age providers.

through quality school readiness services and supports.

OUR VISION STATEMENT
It is the vision of the Early Learning Coalition of Hillsborough County (ELCHC) that all Hillsborough County children will grow up in a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment where:

  • Their physical, social, emotional and intellectual health is a primary focus of attention at home and in the community.
  • Their families are supported in ways that promote good parenting, and
  • Their families and caregivers are supported in promoting each individual child's well-being and readiness to succeed in school and life.

Did You Know?

The Afterschool Alliance surveyed over 1,400 Florida after school programs on how the economy was affecting their programs and communities.  Here's what they said:

  • Nearly 8 in 10 programs reported a loss in funding due to the recession, with 2 in 10 reporting significant loss that will cause cutbacks to the program or cause one or more sites to close.
  • 90% say more kids need afterschool in their community.
  • 69% Report that funding is down from 2 years ago.
  • Top significant barriers to participation are fees and transportation.
