A Place of Our Own is a series of FREE trainings delivered in collaboration by WEDU Television (PBS) and the Early Learning Coalition of Hillsborough County. The trainings, which are dedicated to family child care home providers and kinship and informal caregivers of children ages 0-5, teach how to stimulate children with creative activities that educate as well as entertain. The 3-hour training sessions supplement a daily WEDU television show by the same name and are further supported by a web site rich in free resources. All attendees receive resources and activity materials that relate to each session topic.
The 'A Place of Our Own' sessions have concluded for 2008. The training schedule for 2009 has not been developed yet, but we hope to have those dates for your soon! Keep checking back! Thanks to the family child care home provider community for their participation and enthusiasm! We look forward to the next round of trainings!

To recognize the extraordinary efforts of area family child care home providers that have devoted themselves to high quality care, exemplary service and the field of early childhood care and education, WEDU TV and the Early Learning Coalitions of Hillsborough, Pinellas, and Sarasota have partnered to establish the A Place of Our Own Provider of Distinction Awards.
On October 4, 2008 at a luncheon attended by over 200 area family child care home providers and suppoters, six area FCCH providers were honored as Providers of Distinction. Winners received a beautiful award, a gift bag full of goodies, and full registration and hotel accomodations to the 18th National Conference on Family Literacy, March 1-3, 2009 in Orlando, and MORE!
